How ‘Affiliate Marketing’ sucked me in, spat me out and sucked me back in again!… This time for good!

Hey, My names Neal and today I would like to overcome a huge obstacle in my life that’s been forever holding me back from putting pen to paper (or keys to keyboard)

Opening up to people has never been ‘my thing’.

Everytime in my life where there’s been an opportunity to stand up or be heard, I’ll be the guy that shuffles back from the crowd to let other people take the limelight.

I’m just not comfortable putting myself out there. I’m sure I’m not the only one, and you’ll know yourself, some people are just better at it than others.

A colleague recently told me that everyone should tell their story, that there’s a story in all of us and if you just tell it, be honest, open and frank, then people will listen.

Maybe it might even help them overcome the same obstacle in their life more quickly than it took me (I’m 42 by the way)

My Affiliate Journey

If you’re anything like me (a life long budding entrepreneur) somewhere inside of you is a tiny flame. For some it might be an itch that just can’t be scratched. But for me its a flame and I’ve been waiting my whole life to find the right fuel to make it burn!

I’m talking about an inner desire to do something other than the usual 9 to 5. To do something more with my life other than the path that was laid out in front of me.

Ever since I was a kid, I knew that I didn’t think the same way as everyone else did and that, even though I did ok in school, I knew that academia wasn’t the way for me. That something bigger was just around the corner…

The problem was, I didn’t know how to nurture that flame. No-one taught me how to, it just stayed there, sputtering away like a disused boilers pilot light.

I finished my time at school and walked out in a daze not really having any direction in life and just hoped that I would fall into a career.

Over the years I bumbled from job to job getting no real satisfaction or desire to want to climb the corporate ladder and just went on living life in mediocre jobs earning mediocre money.

I had gone from being a DIY store Lackey to an Estate agent, on into Recruitment and then, after getting the sack for my inability to do the job, I moved into Mobile Phone Sales and then Plumbing… I was even a dancing ice bear in Austria for a time!

Yep, really, a Dancing Ice Bear! Best job ever (the only one) But you can’t drink alcohol 7 days a week and party like its 1999 forever… (not ALL the time anyway)

Anyway, I bumbled through life, happy enough with my lot, but still something deep inside was gnawing away at me, knowing that one day… one day, something big would come along…

Rise of the internet

All hail the rise of the internet. At first I didn’t understand what the big fuss was all about. Sat in my rusty Honda CRV listening to non DAB radio (it wasn’t a thing back then) all around me I kept hearing www. this, and http://www.that …

I didn’t get it at first… It was alien, I thought to myself, “no-ones going to remember all those odd letters and names”…but then something clicked inside my head. I thought, “so the internet connects anyone and everyone around the world and you can sell… to all of them?”

I knew, I just KNEW there had to be opportunities out there and i was going to get a slice of the pie!

This was going to be easy…

It wasn’t…

I spent forever and a day sat on my desktop computer, dial up-modem screaming away at me endlessly, grinding out the hours with matchsticks between my eyes, trying different platforms and get rich schemes to try and make some extra money online.

I was hoping, if I could find a way to make some extra cash, it would help me to pay the bills, maybe even replace my job. I might even be able to afford that Disney Holiday for the family!

I thought, if I could make it online, I’d quit the barbering world (my now job after taking over the family business )and take the internet by storm!.. but it’s been tough.

Like many of us trying to make a few bucks in the online auditorium. We find ourselves running down rabbit holes (not literally) chasing the next shiny online money making object and not concentrating on the task at hand (you’ve been there right?) only to be met with dead ends, lost time and lost opportunities! (stop that by the way… just concentrate on one thing ok!?)

I hadn’t made a penny!

I felt like throwing in the towel. I literally thought I’d hit a brick wall!

I had pretty much given up and resigned myself to being stood behind a chair cutting hair for the rest of my life (which wouldn’t be so bad, I actually love my job and the customers I meet, but I knew there had to be something more out there!

The One Funnel Away Challenge

One sunny Plymouth afternoon something clicked in my head whilst talking to one of my customers in the barbershop ( Chris & Robs Hair Salon – shameless plug ). He mentioned the ‘One Funnel Away’ 30 day challenge with Clickfunnels

I say he introduced me to Clickfunnels, but I knew about them already as I’d used the platform before. I didn’t make any money that time because I didn’t really know what I was doing and didn’t have the right people behind me to help me along….so I quit… again!

I thought about it for a while and just when I thought, “Nah… I’m not doing this again”… I found myself reaching into my pocket, pulling out my battered credit card (again) and signing up… and there it was…BOOM… the moment my life changed. My whole perception of what it takes to make online marketing work!

The One Funnel Away Challenge gave me the belief in myself and the structure to build my own online business… not just generating leads and sales for my own hair salon through the use of funnels, (which has been a great way for me getting new customers to the salon) but also as an affiliate marketer. (which I absolutely love and where my passion now lies.. oh the opportunities!!)

I made my first online money on the 11th March 2019 .. my little girls 5th Birthday.. I’ll never forget it.

And because I knew how I did it… I knew I could do it again….I now had the fuel to light the fire!

I realised though, that something amazing happened along my journey. I started out with a dream, the dream that many of us have doing this online, right?… to make money online without being tied to one place, the laptop lifestyle!

But what I’ve learned is, that to make it to where you want to be, all you really need is to help other people out.

You see, I stopped trying to hard sell and actually started helping the people out around me instead…. When you do this, something amazing happens! There’s a shift. People actually start coming to you for advice and offer to buy your thing from you because you’ve ‘given value’.

The satisfaction of wanting to see others succeed around you because of your help, is like no other feeling. Its like watching your kids sat around the X-mas tree whilst they open their presents, all wide eyed and full of joy… you just can’t help but feel happy for them!…

The thing I found with Affiliate Marketing is that there’s a big learning curve, there’s a lot to learn and you need help to move along your journey. By offering what I’ve learned to others around me, it forces me to learn more and helps me build relationships with people that ultimately will help me to earn more online.I still want to be a millionaire, but now I know I don’t want to be alone when I make that journey. It’s a lonely road!

My goal is to be a millionaire within 2 years, it’s not going to be easy, but it’s something to reach for and a beacon to look to for inspiration in the coming months and years. So, thats my Origin story, the story of how I come to be where I am today, I’m still a long way off becoming a millionaire, but now I have the belief and the know how… I’m moving forward everyday.

Clickfunnels have a contest where if you get 1o0 active users sign up under your link they give you $500 dollars per month towards your dream car. Get 200 and its $1000! … Thats my goal for the end of 2019.. I currently have 6 potential trialling clickfunnels and i expect that to grow daily.
